Itinerary

Depart Kampala after an early breakfast and head north through Masindi, watching the landscape shift from farmland to savannah as you approach Uganda's largest national park. Arrive at Murchison Falls National Park in the afternoon, check in at your lodge overlooking the Nile, and settle in with a relaxed evening before tomorrow's activities begin.

Set out early for a game drive across the Buligi Peninsula, the park's premier game-viewing circuit between the Victoria Nile and Lake Albert, home to lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and Uganda kob. In the afternoon, board a boat cruise upstream on the Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls, where the entire river is forced through a gorge just seven metres wide — passing pods of hippos, basking crocodiles, and prolific birdlife along the banks.

Rise early for a game drive across the Kasenyi plains, Queen Elizabeth National Park's prime savannah for spotting lions, elephants, buffaloes, and Uganda kob. Return to the lodge for lunch, then set out in the afternoon on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, the 32-kilometre natural waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is home to one of Africa's largest hippo concentrations, along with elephants, buffaloes, and abundant birdlife.
